The policy is simple to state and demanding to apply: describe what the source supports, keep living traditions in context, make corrections visible and never turn supplied copy into evidence by default.
Correction and attribution
A correction should identify the page, the passage, the better source and the date. Cultural attribution should name the institution, community or place when the source does, rather than use a tradition as an anonymous visual effect.
A correction to a dated note is logged with the date it was made, not folded silently into the original text, and the same restraint applies to subjects the desk can only describe from the outside.
